MINSK, 23 August (BelTA) – The Washington-led West is behind Kiev's strikes on civilian targets, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, TASS reports.
According to her, Western countries have nurtured the Kiev regime and put it "first on an extremist and now on terrorist footing". Previously, they prepared the ground destroying the Ukrainian statehood.
"All this is done in order to use Ukraine as a tool, as they say, to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia. In our interpretation, this is a hybrid war declared by the West," Maria Zakharova said.
Moscow has repeatedly said that from the first day of the war, the West has been behind all strikes by the Kiev regime on civilian infrastructure. According to the diplomat, this also applies to the strikes on the Black Sea Fleet directed by the UK. Russia classified this as a terrorist attack. "All intelligence, satellites, information could not have been supplied to the Kiev regime from anywhere but NATO, primarily Washington and London," Maria Zakharova added.
