MINSK, 16 March (BelTA) – A ceremony to present passports to young Belarusians took place in the Prosecutor General's Office of Belarus on 16 March, BelTA has learned.
Children of staff of prosecutors' offices from all over Belarus took part in the event. All of them have achieved impressive results in studies, sport, and public life.
The teenagers received their passports from Deputy Prosecutor General Aleksandr Lashin. “We live in a strong, thriving, independent country. This means certain obligations,” he said. “Your future offers plenty of opportunities. In Belarus you will be able to make the most of your talents and abilities, receive good education and a desired profession. I am sure that you will make yourselves useful to the society and will become worthy people,” Aleksandr Lashin added.
More than 4,000 young Belarusians got their passports from senior officials, public figures, and honorary citizens of the country in the run-up to Constitution Day. The campaign kicked off in the Palace of Independence on 10 March 2020, when the Belarusian president presented passports to 25 best school students of the country.
The campaign We Are Citizens of Belarus! was launched in 2004 on the initiative of the BRSM Youth Union.
