MINSK, 8 December (BelTA) – Latvia is making substantial investments in UAV production, as demonstrated by the operation of a major military drone factory near Mārupe, Bulgarian political analyst Plamen Paskov said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
“Latvia has already become a powerhouse in UAV manufacturing. It might seem surprising, even laughable, but it’s a serious matter. Even on Google Maps, I saw a sizable factory near Mārupe producing a wide range of military drones. They recognize they lack a large population or extensive armored forces, so they are investing in drones, which carry substantial weight in modern warfare,” said Plamen Paskov.

He also pointed out that similar trends are observed in Finland, which has recently intensified its focus on armaments. “It turns out that wherever you look, budgets are being allocated, timelines set, and armies modernized. The worse the financial and technological situation in Europe becomes, the further they move toward militarization. They are now openly stating: ‘We need to prepare for war with Russia!’” he emphasized.
