Yermoshina about the early 1990s: “I remember more bad things than good things’

MINSK, 12 July (BelTA) – I remember more bad things than good ones about the early 1990s, Lidia Yermoshina, who headed the Belarusian Central Election Commission for many years and who was a CEC member in 1992-1996, said in the ONT documentary "One for All" dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the institution of the presidency in Belarus, BelTA has learned.

"I remember more bad things than good ones. There was also racketeering. There were also large checkered shopping bags and shuttle trade with Poland. Back and forth," Lidia Yermoshina said.

In those years, there was a shortage of most basic things, such as food; the inflation was through the roof.

"Store shelves were empty, and the prices for what was  in shops were astronomical. Soviet money turned to paper. People did not ask for circuses. They asked for bread," the film narrated the situation in the country in the 1990s.
