MINSK, 5 September (BelTA) - Cooperation between Belarus and China in various areas has achieved outstanding results over the past four years, outgoing Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Belarus Xie Xiaoyong said at the meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko on 5 September, BelTA has learned.

The diplomat conveyed to the Belarusian head of state cordial greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping and from Premier of the State Council Li Qiang, who has recently paid a successful visit to Belarus.

“I have worked in Belarus for more than 1,400 days, that is four years. All this time I felt the deep and strong friendly feelings of the Belarusian people towards me and the Chinese embassy in Belarus. I am proud to have been sent as an ambassador to friendly Belarus and to have witnessed and participated in the historical process of development of China-Belarus relations,” Xie Xiaoyong said.

The ambassador also emphasized that the Chinese-Belarusian relations had reached a new historical height.

In his words, over the past four years, Aleksandr Lukashenko and Xi Jinping have met four times, outlined a plan and set the course for the development of bilateral relations.

It is thanks to the personal care and under the strategic guidance of the presidents of China and Belarus that the Chinese-Belarusian relations maintain a good development pace and have reached an unprecedentedly high level - an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership.

Diplomatic relations between Belarus and China were established on 20 January 1992. Embassies have been opened in both the countries. Consulates general of Belarus operate in Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chongqing, and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of China.
