MINSK, 29 February (BelTA) -  The World Youth Festival in Sochi is a platform for the dialogue of cultures and wide opportunities,  Secretary of the Central Committee of the Belarusian BRSM Youth Union Aleksandra Goncharova told BelTA.

Belarus has sent a representative delegation from to the World Youth Festival to be held in Sochi on 1-7 March. It comprises 100 people from the largest youth organization in the country. These are the winners of national projects and programs, young vocalists, directors, students, working youth of various professions: from teachers to farmers.  "This is not the first time that BRSM has taken part in the event. We attended the festival in Venezuela In 2005, and in Sochi in 2017," Aleksandra Goncharova said.

According to her, the festival brings together people from all over the world. "The festival is a good opportunity to obtain unique knowledge, to engage in a dialogue of cultures and wide opportunities, an open conversation and exchange of views. For us, first of all, this is a good opportunity to tell the world about our  Belarus, a young, sovereign, friendly and hospitable state with unique  cultural and historical heritage, traditions, continuity of generations and aspirations for peace in the world," she stressed.

Aleksandra Goncharova explained that the delegation of the BRSM Youth Union has another important mission, namely to expand the geography of international youth cooperation. "For example, we have held negotiations and signed cooperation agreements with the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs (Rosmolodyozh), the main organizer of the festival, the Youth Chamber at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, and the Union of Young Communists of Cuba. We are very interested in continuing cooperation with the Youth Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, where we have applied for membership. Within the framework of the program of the World Youth Festival, we will take part in the conference Intercultural Dialogue of the Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization," she said.

A youth delegation of 630 people from Belarus headed to the festival on 28 February.
