Working group on development of Vitebsk Oblast gathers in Minsk

MINSK, 8 January (BelTA) - The working group on promoting the social and economic development of Vitebsk Oblast convened for a meeting in Minsk, BelTA learned.

“Another meeting of the working group tasked with formulating proposals for the effective operation of enterprises in Vitebsk Oblast has taken place, with all members of the group in attendance. Proposals have been prepared and will be incorporated into a comprehensive document. Subsequently, this document will be submitted to the president of the country. It covers various aspects of the economic activities of Vitebsk Oblast," said Leonid Zayats, Chairman of the Standing Commission on Regional Policy and Local Self-Government of the Council of the Republic.

Thus, the plan involves measures to retain personnel at enterprises in Vitebsk Oblast, and within the organizational structure of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee. The document also includes proposals on how to ensure the efficient use of agricultural land, prevent the exclusion of a certain amount of land from crop rotation that should be utilized, ensure a high survival rate of young cattle, and optimize the utilization of processing enterprises' capacities in line with the country's capabilities. “Perhaps we should not rush to build new dairy farms in certain regions, but instead make effective use of what has already been established in the country,” Leonid Zayats noted.
Additionally, specific directives have been formulated for certain government bodies to enhance the efficiency of various enterprises in the region.

He also pointed out that work on this document has been ongoing for three months. “The most competent specialists have been involved. I believe this document, which will be submitted to the head of state, will serve as a very significant impetus for making the economy of Vitebsk Oblast more efficient,” Leonid Zayats added.
