MINSK, 29 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian Women's Union and the All-China Women's Federation have signed a memorandum of cooperation. The ceremony took place on the sidelines of a web-based seminar of women MPs of Belarus and China on 29 April, BelTA has learned.
The document was signed by Deputy Chairperson, First Secretary of the Central Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation Huang Xiaowei and Chairperson of the Belarusian Women's Union Yelena Bogdan.

The memorandum contains such forms of interaction as exchange of visits of leaders, exchange of information on women's issues, and also on maternal and child health, coordination of positions during international events, and cooperation of experts. The document creates a legal foundation for further development of cooperation. Its implementation will contribute to the promotion of gender equality and women's rights.
The Chinese side also decided to transfer equipment and office appliances to Belarusian orphanages, family-type homes and large families.
“Women of Belarus and China have been cooperating for many years. The signing of the memorandum is the next step in expanding relations. We have spelled out the positions on which we see the most important cooperation between women of Belarus and China today,” Yelena Bogdan said.
In her words, we have a lot in common, including support for the family institution, support for women, families with children, and honest and open communication about the coronavirus infection. “We, indeed, have supported each other since the first days of the pandemic in China. When the coronavirus came to the Republic of Belarus, China responded to our humanitarian aid by supplying medical equipment, personal protective equipment, most importantly, with vaccines. The negotiations made it possible to purchase a vaccine for Belarus at a special price. Thanks to this we have a special safe level of vaccination of our population. In Minsk, over 66% of the population is vaccinated. In addition to the Russian vaccine, the Chinese vaccine Sinopharm also made a great contribution,” chairwoman of the Belarusian Women's Union said.
The All-China Women's Federation is China's biggest public women's organization.
The women's organizations of Belarus and China adhere to similar goals, principles, and values: they promote the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of women, families, and children, and seek to enhance the role of women in the socio-political, socio-economic, and cultural life of the two countries.
