MINSK, 6 April (BelTA) – Dmitry Baskov, member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus, head coach of the Belarus president’s ice hockey team, has explained why the president called him when HC Dinamo Minsk was playing against HC CSKA Moscow in KHL playoffs, BelTA has learned.
“I criticized you a bit when the team slacked off during the second period. This is unacceptable,” Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko told Dmitry Baskov during a government conference held to discuss support for physical education and sport organizations.
“In a nutshell, he said that we must not relax under any circumstances and we must not believe that we’ve already won. In other words, CSKA is a powerful team that can turn the game upside down. Well, some instructions were given to adjust individual players,” Dmitry Baskov said.
BelTA reported earlier that HC Dinamo Minsk blanked HC CSKA Moscow 7-0 in the fifth match of the KHL playoff series. However, Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that the Belarusian team relaxed in the second period after getting ahead.
