West's treatment of migrants on Belarus-Poland border decried as ‘crime of the century'

MINSK, 19 November (BelTA) – This is simply the crime of the century on the part of the collective West, Head of the Office of the Standing Committee of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Minsk Marianna Shchetkina told reporters on 19 November commenting on the situation on the Belarus-Poland border, BelTA has learned.

“This is simply the crime of the century on the part of the collective West and Poland. You - all those on the other side of the border - violated all human rights. You could have resolved all these issues easily if you wanted. This requires only political will,” Marianna Shchetkina said.

According to her, any actions of Belarus and Russia will always be presented in the light that benefits Western countries. “Whatever happens and whatever we do, we are faced with much more than double standards or impudent moves. The developments we are witnessing speak volumes. The concepts of justice, solidarity are manipulated by them,” Marianna Shchetkina said.

She went on saying that today Belarus is doing a lot for the refugees stranded on the Belarusian-Polish border. “There are so many people there. We provided them with shelter, medical assistance, food and clothing. Our civil society got involved. Everyone is interested in making their life easier. Imagine what it means to spend a few days in the open with children. After all, we are all human. They came here for a reason. Nothing is more important than a human life,” she added.
