MINSK, 19 November (BelTA) - The federal association of German West-East Societies will continue cooperation with Belarus, deputy chairman of the association Heinz Wehmeier said as he spoke at the 12th meeting of the sister cities of Belarus and Germany in the House of Friendship in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
He said that the program of the German delegation included a visit to the memorial complexes Khatyn and Stalin’s Line. "Almost 80 years after the end of the war, we bow our heads to the victims of the Second World War and to those who gave their lives for the liberation of Belarus and, as we also say, for the liberation of the German lands," Heinz Wehmeier said.
"Together we will prepare for the 80th anniversary of liberation from Nazism, including in Germany," he said.
Heinz Wehmeier stressed the need to maintain the Belarusian-German sister city friendship. "Not everyone in Germany understands and supports us, but we continue to interact with Belarusian partners: Wittenberg maintains city town relations with Mogilev," he said.
