Ways to combat transboundary organized crime discussed in Astana

MINSK, 15 June (BelTA) – A delegation of Belarus’ Internal Affairs Ministry led by Deputy Internal Affairs Minister, Chief of Criminal Police Gennady Kazakevich took part in a conference of criminal police chiefs of the ministries of internal affairs of the CIS member states in Astana, Kazakhstan, representatives of the Belarusian Internal Affairs Ministry told BelTA.

Gennady Kazakevich remarked that practically all the known challenges and threats to global public security have become more acute nowadays. “Extremism, illegal trade in arms and narcotics know no borders and are manifested in the most radical forms. Taking into account the rapid pace of development of information and communication technologies new methods and forms of committing illegal actions are emerging,” he pointed out.

The Belarusian police officer thanked colleagues for support and interaction during special operations mounted to capture individuals, who are connected to transboundary organized crime. According to Gennady Kazakevich, the fight against this global phenomenon requires partnership at all levels: the state, the private sector, the civil society, and international organizations.

“We see huge potential in a tight constructive dialogue for improving the efficiency of the fight against organized forms of crime. We are interested in studying cutting-edge foreign experience. In turn, we are always open to the development of comprehensive cooperation,” the deputy internal affairs minister assured.

Participants of the meeting analyzed joint work in detail. They also paid attention to the most topical aspects of practical interaction.
