VR suit from Belarus' Hi-Tech Park allows playing rugby over 160km distance

MINSK, 4 July (BelTA) – Two rugby players from the Wasps team managed to practice playing rugby while being over 160km away from each other, representatives of the Hi-Tech Park told BelTA.

According to the source, one player was located in Coventry and the other one in London. The athletes demonstrated one of the tricks – an interception. Thanks to the 5G network and the VR suit Teslasuit the player in the other city felt the entire strength of the trick. The interaction was made possible thanks to the cutting-edge tactile feedback technology from Teslasuit, a resident company of the Hi-Tech Park.

Teslasuit is a haptic suit for the entire body. It offers the world's first interface between users and the digital environment. The technology allows transmitting touches in essence offering an additional communications channel and a new way to experience virtual reality on a deeper, more captivating and realistic level. Teslasuit will be used for gaming and entertainment, fitness and sport, recreation, and healthcare.

The product was officially unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show 2018 in Las Vegas. It won a Future Unicorn Award, an award for innovations in the area of virtual and augmented reality. The startup and technology news website TechCrunch described Teslasuit as the future of full-body haptic technology.
