MINSK, 16 January (BelTA) – There is an increase in intelligence and sabotage activities of foreign special services in Belarus, State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich said in an interview with the SB. Belarus Segodnya newspaper, BelTA learned.
“We see a rise in intelligence and sabotage activities of foreign special services. They are trying to identify pain points in the society in order to stage provocations to destabilize the country. However, there has been nothing fundamentally new this time,” Aleksandr Volfovich remarked.
In order to have an impact on the course of the election campaign, the United States and its allies continue to put pressure on Belarus using international legal tools, political and economic instruments and other means. “The key goals remain the same: regime change and a rift with ally Russia. The main methods are spreading disinformation, discrediting the authorities in the eyes of the public and the international community, creating divisions in the state apparatus and the security bloc, stifling the economy, putting political pressure and hybrid pressure using far-fetched grounds,” Aleksandr Volfovich emphasized.
