BREST DISTRICT, 23 May (BelTA) - Belarus is taking all necessary measures to improve its defense capability, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich said as he met with conscripts, called up for the training camp of the Brest District territorial troops, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Volfovich mentioned a complicated geopolitical situation in the world, including around Belarus. “All this is taking place against the background of the militarization, which is underway around our country. Unfortunately, the West is conducting more and more activities related to military activity, to the preparation of Europe (openly already) for military action. We see them working on the issues of troop movements and the creation of offensive groups on the territory of Europe - especially the Eastern European region of collective security. It is used as a foothold for practicing these issues. The number of exercises that we record on the territory of neighboring countries, on the territory of Europe, of course, is off the scale. There has never been such a number before,” the State Secretary of State of the Security Council said. He added that regular flights of reconnaissance aircraft are also recorded along the borders of Belarus.

Against this background, anti-Belarusian foreign centers became active to destabilize the situation inside the country. They are formed by those dissatisfied with life in Belarus, who fled to Europe. “They are trying to do everything possible to worsen the situation in our country. They call for various sanctions, plan provocative events, trying their utmost to work off the grants allocated by their Western handlers and also justify their purpose. They live by the principle: the worse it is for Belarus, for the Belarusian people, the more profitable it is for them,” said Aleksandr Volfovich.

Belarus adequately responds to the developing situation. “The Republic of Belarus is taking all measures to improve the defense capability of the state. We focus primarily not on increasing the military budgets of our country, as it is done in the West, increasing the number of armed forces and other structures of the military organization of the state, but on improving the quality of training of our troops, our servicemen, including reserve soldiers,” the state secretary of the Security Council said.
On 23 May, Aleksandr Volfovich visited the Brest practice ground for a scheduled training camp with conscripts of the territorial troops.
