MINSK, 25 November (BelTA) – All military planning documents of Belarus are exclusively defensive in nature and aimed solely at protecting the country’s national interests, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich told the media following his report to the head of state on 25 November, BelTA has learned.
“This year we are completing the revision of military planning documents, or what are known as defense plan documents for the next five years. I believe that in the near future the revised defense plan documents will be presented to members of the Security Council, headed by our Chairman Aleksandr Grigoryevich Lukashenko,” he said.
Aleksandr Volfovich described them as planning documents for the medium term: “There is absolutely nothing extraordinary here. Taking into account new risks, challenges, and threats in thenational security, these documents will be submitted for approval, and on the basis of them the structures of our country’s military organization will operate for the next five years.”
Thus, he stressed, the documents will set out where, how, and by whom responses should be made to threats that may arise for Belarus. “Belarus threatens no one. All our military planning documents are exclusively defensive in nature and aimed only at protecting our national interests, sovereignty, and territorial integrity,” Aleksandr Volfovich concluded.
