Vasilevskaya on launch abort: ‘I was more worried about my family, friends, Belarusians’

MINSK, 13 April (BelTA) -  Cosmonaut, Hero of Belarus Marina Vasilevskaya shared what she experienced at the time of the Soyuz MS-25 launch in an interview with the Belarus 1 TV channel on 12 April, BelTA has learned.

"We discussed all off-normal situations that are possible. But the launch abort was unexpected for everyone. Nevertheless, this situation showed the reliability of Russian space rocket technology, which aborted the launch about 20 seconds before the scheduled liftoff," Marina Vasilevskaya said.

The cosmonaut noted that it was good that the abort took place on Earth. That meant things could have been corrected. "I was more worried about my family and friends, about the Belarusians who came to the cosmodrome to support us. Indeed we were more worried about our families," Marina Vasilevskaya added.
