MINSK, 23 January (BelTA) - Chairman of the CEC of Belarus Igor Karpenko met with Chairman of the CEC of Uzbekistan Zayniddin Nizamkhodjaev, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Central Election Commission.
“There is no doubt that you have done your utmost to ensure that the election will be held at a high level,” Zayniddin Nizamkhodjaev said.
Igor Karpenko briefed his colleagues on the progress of the election campaign for the presidential election in Belarus. During the meeting, the parties discussed joint work in the Consultative Council of Heads of Election Bodies of the CIS member states and further international cooperation.
Igor Karpenko also met with representatives of the National Electoral Council of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. They thanked the Belarusian CEC for the invitation to take part in the international observation of the presidential election, adding that the large number of foreign observers confirms the openness of the Belarusian electoral system.
Igor Karpenko spoke about the preparations for the presidential election, the early voting and the work of the territorial and precinct election commissions.
