Uzbekistan’s CEC chief: Belarus’ CEC has vast experience in holding elections

MINSK, 23 February (BelTA) – Following his meeting with Chairman of the Belarusian Central Election Commission Igor Karpenko in Minsk on 23 February, Chairman of Uzbekistan’s Central Election Commission Zayniddin Nizamkhodjaev told reporters about cooperation between the central election commissions of the two countries, BelTA has learned

“I want to say that close contacts have been established between the central election commissions of Belarus and Uzbekistan. The Central Election Commission of Belarus has 35 years of experience in arranging and holding elections and referendums. The Central Election Commission of Belarus does a lot to educate young people about elections. In this regard, our interests coincide. I think that our cooperation will help bring this area of work to a higher level,” said Zayniddin Nizamkhodjaev. “This is very important, because the future belongs to young people. If they are well-informed, well educated about electoral processes and take their constitutional rights seriously – this is good for our peoples,” he noted.

“We have ambitious plans to introduce information technologies into the electoral process. This is also a great achievement of Belarus. We will work in this direction,” added the head of the Central Election Commission.

As expected, the central election commissions of Belarus and Uzbekistan will sign a cooperation protocol on 24 February.
