Union State Award in Literature and Art recipients announced

ST. PETERSBURG, 30 January (BelTA) - The recipients of the Union State Award in Literature and Art for 2023-2024 have been announced. The decision was made at the meeting of the Supreme State Council on 29 January, BelTA has learned. 

The award will go to a team of authors consisting of the chief architect of Belgosproekt Viktor Skrobot, the muralist, member of the Union of Artists of Belarus Andrei Petkevich, the director of the National Historical Museum of the Republic of Belarus Aleksandr Khromoy for the project to set up a new museum in the Khatyn memorial complex. 

Vladimir Likhodedov, a freelance writer for the Zvyazda publishing house, has been honored with the award for the historical and educational project Batsykaushchyna [Fatherland] and for his books and albums. 

Viktor Zakharchenko, general director of the scientific and creative cultural institution of Krasnodar Oblast ‘Kuban Cossack Choir’, will receive the award for composing a cycle of songs Belarus, Rus, Tseraz Rechanku [Across the river]. 

The Union State Awards in Literature and Art are presented every two years by the Supreme State Council for works of art and literature that make a great contribution to strengthening the relations of brotherhood, friendship and all-round cooperation between Belarus and Russia.
