Ukrainian military attache handed note of protest over Belarusian border violation

MINSK, 6 December (BelTA) – The military attache of the Ukrainian embassy was summoned to the International Military Cooperation Department of the Belarusian Defense Ministry on 5 December. The attache was handed a note of protest due to increasingly frequent violations of the Belarusian border in the air space by the Ukrainian side, the press service of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

According to the source, a Ukrainian helicopter of the Mi-8 type violated the Belarusian state border in the air space near the village of Novaya Rudnya, Yelsk District, Gomel Oblast on 4 December 2021.

The military attache was told that the Ukrainian side avoids dialogue for resolving debatable issues concerning international military cooperation and arms control. The Belarusian side is concerned by the fact. The military attache was presented with the facts that testify that Ukraine evades obligations within the framework of regional trust and security measures. The organization of a number of military exercises near the Belarusian border in combination with accusatory rhetoric targeting the Republic of Belarus was also mentioned. The combination of these facts can testify to the possible emergence of a threat to the security of the Republic of Belarus from the south, the Belarusian Defense Ministry press service said.
