MINSK, 16 January (BelTA) - A two-month supply of personal protective equipment or PPE is now in stockpile of Minsk's healthcare facilities, BelTA learned from Belarusian Professional Union of Healthcare Workers.
“Two-month PPE stocks are in place in Minsk's health care. The Belarusian capital has enough supplies of PPE to last at least two months. In stock are more than 15 million items: masks, gloves, gowns and goggles, respirators, protective overshoes and other products," the trade union said. "For example, the supply of medical gloves is more than 9 million, disposable masks - 3 million. About 1 million units of PPE are delivered to Minsk's healthcare facilities on a weekly basis.”
However, for the past week the reserve supply of PPE for healthcare workers in the regions decreased by an average of 3-7%, in some regions by 10% or more. This applies to Gomel Oblast, Minsk Oblast and Mogilev Oblast. The regions have enough supplies of PPE in stock to last at least one month.
The trade union explained that thanks to the reserve stocks, healthcare workers are fully provided with PPE and disinfectants. Stocks are replenished without delay, supplies of PPE have never been suspended.
The Healthcare Ministry has plenty of inventory on all commodities. In stock are 880,000 gowns, more than 15 million medical disposable masks, 180,000 goggles, 1.4 million respirators, more than 19 million medical gloves.
