MINSK, 14 November (BelTA) – Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has confirmed that two border crossings with Belarus will reopen early next week, according to a report from Wiadomosci.wp.

“Yes, I confirm it. These border crossings will reopen at the start of [next] week,” he informed, attributing the decision to the needs of local residents and businesses.

“This decision was made independently and was due to understandable pressure from local residents. I’m talking about residents of Podlasie,” Donald Tusk clarified. The politician added that the reopening of the checkpoints will also reduce the burden on the border.

Simultaneously, the Polish prime minister indicated that border controls would be strengthened.

Earlier, the PAP news agency reported citing a respective bill that the Polish Ministry of the Interior and Administration wants to reopen two vehicle border crossings with Belarus (Bobrowniki-Berestovitsa and Kuznica Bialostocka-Bruzgi) on 17 November.
