Traffic across Belarusian-Polish border over 1.1m cars in 2019

MINSK, 17 January (BelTA) – More than 1.1 million cars crossed Belarus' border with Poland in 2019, BelTA learned from the State Customs Committee.

The number of vehicles rose by 5% over 2018 and by 20% from 2015.

More than 3,000 heavy vehicles cross the border in this direction on a daily basis.

The interaction of Belarus' and Poland's customs and border services in the event of an emergency on Belarus-Poland land border is based on the emergency advance notification system. However, it is important to develop further cooperation and take timely all necessary measures to accommodate as many vehicles as possible at the crossing points.

Chairman of Belarus' State Customs Committee Yuri Senko and head of Poland's National Revenue Administration Piotr Walczak discussed the measures to maximize the border crossing capacity. During the negotiations, the parties decided to continue the work to update the legal framework, to develop the infrastructure of the crossing points on the Belarusian-Polish border and also to ensure maximum vehicle crossing capacity.

The meeting was a continuation of the constructive dialogue and an important practical step towards further development of the mutually beneficial cooperation between the Belarusian and Polish customs services.
