MINSK, 12 December (BelTA) - Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus (FTUB) Yuri Senko met with a delegation of the All Pakistan Federation of United Trade Unions (APFUTU). The parties discussed a wide range of issues concerning the expansion of cooperation both between trade union centers of the two countries and at the level of branch associations, BelTA learned from the FTUB press service.
The trade unions of Belarus and Pakistan have already agreed to work together in many areas. Thus, APFUTU Secretary General Zia Syed expressed interest in cooperation with Belarus in educational services, in studying Belarus' tourist potential, and sports infrastructure.
In turn, FTUB Chairman Yuri Senko assured that the national trade union center is ready to provide the necessary assistance in establishing direct contacts in all areas of interest to the Pakistani side. In particular, the trade union university MITSO is eager to expand cooperation with Pakistan. There is a common interest of the parties to work together in terms of improving the education system, training, retraining, exchange of students, joint participation in conferences, seminars and other educational events.
Also during the meeting, agreements were reached on closer cooperation in tourism and sport. These are vibrant sectors in Belarus. By the way, the Federation of Trade Unions has extensive experience in the market of tourist services. This includes the development of domestic and inbound tourism, development of a wide range of routes aimed at familiarizing with the history, culture, traditions and achievements of Belarus.
One of the topical issues that the parties raised at the meeting was the protection of workers' rights in the two countries. Representatives of trade unions of Belarus and Pakistan agreed to provide solidarity support to each other on various international platforms.
Mr Zia Syed emphasized that trade unions of Pakistan are always keen to provide full support in the international arena, including at the meetings of the International Labor Organization.
