MINSK, 19 September (BelTA) – If the power grab was successful, the conspirators intended to intern top public officials. One of the conspirators Yuri Zenkovich revealed it as part of the film “Murderous conspiracy. Target: Lukashenko” aired by the TV channel Belarus One, BelTA has learned. Yuri Zenkovich was sentenced to 11 years in prison in September 2022.

Yuri Zenkovich mentioned the conspirators had had two lists. The first one contained organizations, which, according to the conspirator Aleksandr Feduta, had to be seized as soon as possible after the coup d’etat. The second list contained names of the people, who had to be interned.

“Let’s talk frankly. The people on this list are top public officials. Respectively it is impossible to seize power without capturing them or without removing them. To intern them means to arrest them without court and investigation for an indefinite period of time. As long as the ruling junta (let us call a spade a spade) deems it necessary to keep these people under arrest. It could last for weeks, months, years. The duration varies. If the people on the list resisted, then naturally the army would use army methods. Which means shooting them in the head,” Yuri Zenkovich said.

Among other people the list contained names of Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova, Chairman of the television and radio company Belteleradiocompany Ivan Eismont, the head of state’s Press Secretary Natalya Eismont, the current Information Minister Marat Markov, who was the director of the TV channel ONT at that time. “I think it is understandable why Kochanova is on the list. She is next in line if something happens to the incumbent head of state and he is unable to discharge his duties. As for Eismont and Markov… I asked Aleksandr Vasilyevich Feduta, the author of the list, about it. He said that those are smart and talented propagandists and such people can be dangerous if they are free,” Yuri Zenkovich explained.

The list also mentioned Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko, Chairman of the State Security Committee of Belarus Ivan Tertel, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin, and other individuals.

Aleksandr Feduta was entrusted with compiling the list because he was the man, who knew Belarusian elites best. Nevertheless, Yuri Zenkovich noted that more names could have been added to the list if the relevant proposals had been made. “As far as I remember, no additions were made,” he added.
