Top priorities for Belarusian Institute for Strategic Research identified

MINSK, 28 February (BelTA) – Head of the Belarus President Administration Igor Sergeyenko met with top officials and personnel of the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Research (BISR) on 28 February, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian Institute for Strategic Research takes an active part in providing information and analysis support for state administration processes. Its branches have been set up in all the regions and help even more effectively examine the situation on the ground.

Participants of the meeting discussed results of BISR’s work over the last few years and sketched out areas of future work.

Igor Sergeyenko said: “You have put together a hard-working collective with a serious scientific potential. The people came from various branches, spheres, higher education institutions, research centers, and government and administration agencies. You need constant professional growth and further advancement. Today the collective is capable of handling complicated tasks.”

The official drew attention to the conditions the state develops in these days: “The international security system is completely degraded. The country has to deal with unprecedented pressure of sanctions. Foreign attempts to interfere with Belarus’ domestic affairs continue. The evolving situation near our borders is complicated. Destructive web resources actively spread misinformation that ordinary people and sometimes specialists have difficulties sorting out. Everything is geared towards destabilizing the situation in the country.”

Igor Sergeyenko mentioned the areas BISR analysts should pay close attention to. First of all, the analysts should focus on studying social and political problems, participate in efforts to work out the tools meant to counteract the policy of sanctions, efforts meant to ensure the stability of the state in the face of external pressure. Analysis of processes in the Belarusian society is important as well as determining the factors that influence the mood of citizens and their social wellbeing. It is also necessary to take a closer look at problems and threats to the state and the society. “Not only as the recounting of facts and events. You have to work out proposals, which will help us address problems and move forward. Particularly in the public political sphere. It is necessary to pay more attention to this area. Without forgetting the mundane,” the head of the Belarus President Administration noted.

In international activities the BISR has to work out priorities and determine the most pressing areas of work depending on the evolving situation, Igor Sergeyenko added. In his words, results of studying the processes going on in other countries will always be in demand. These materials are used to shape bilateral relations and implement Belarus’ foreign policy on the whole.
