GRODNO, 18 November (BelTA) – As much as 8 tonnes of food is handed out to refugees at the Belarusian-Polish border every day, BelTA learned from Chairman of the Education, Science, Culture, and Social Development Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Viktor Liskovich. The upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament has empowered the senator to coordinate the delivery of humanitarian aid to the refugees.
On 18 November all the refugees went from makeshift camps at the Polish border to a temporary accommodation facility in a nearby transportation and logistics hub.
“The Belarusian side has done everything necessary for them. They are fed, have a roof over their heads, and will spend the night in warmth,” Viktor Liskovich noted.
Hot meals, medical support, clean drinking water as well as shop vans are available to the refugees in the Belarusian transportation and logistics hub Bruzgi.
“Meals are organized on a regular basis. Every day 8 tonnes of food is handed out to the refugees,” the senator said. He stressed that the Belarusian side will continue providing aid to the refugees.
In his words, the refugees were invited to consider staying in Belarus and finding a job in the country. They have turned down the offer. The refugees are still intent on going to the European Union.
