Time traveling with Minsk World! How the new complex is redefining Belarus' capital city

Minsk would have lost a lot if not for the multifunctional complex Minsk World. Many developers made big promises. However, none of them managed to offer a concept of a fully self-sufficient neighborhood! Minsk World is an urban community rushing into the future. It is a time machine that can take you to the future of Minsk.

Back in the early 2000 it became clear that the old airport Minsk 1 in the very heart of the Belarusian capital was doomed. The runway could not handle modern aircraft, while flights over urban neighborhoods did not meet modern safety standards.

There were several attempts to come up with development projects for this area, but all of them fell flat. However, in the end the famous international developer Dana Holdings put forward an absolutely novel development concept for this area.

It suggested building the Minsk World multifunctional center incorporating the international financial center Minsk World as its main element. The company was inspired by Dubai, the city that owes its success to the active use of foreign investment and that now welcomes more than 11 million tourists a year.

The development company had relevant experience. It worked on similar projects in Russia and other countries. Its specialists were involved in the world's biggest construction projects. However, most importantly, the company had a clear vision of what it wanted to do. In addition to that, the company had already implemented some interesting construction projects in Minsk – it built several houses that drew a lot of attention.

The Minsk World construction project was supported by Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko. The foundation stone laying ceremony took place on 2 October 2015. Only four years have passed since that time! It is impossible to believe it!

Those who have not been in Minsk for several years should go and see how this place looks like now! If they go along Aerodromnaya Street from Denisovskaya Street and then turn to the left to Kizhevatova Street and proceed to the hospital, they will see this huge neighborhood! The scale of the construction project is really impressive!

There is no wasteland on the place of the old airport! Over this short period of time dozens of new modern buildings emerged. The Minsk World complex fascinates the eye. It is for a reason that it received the EuropaProperty award as the largest multifunctional complex in Europe.

Minsk World today is a construction site with an area of over 340 hectares! More than 3 million square meters of residential and commercial premises will be built here.

The project is slated for completion in 2027.

The complex has a number of landmark facilities.

First of all this is the international financial center Minsk World which construction has already begun.

It is built in collaboration with the Dubai International Financial Center. Partner agreements with the UAE were signed at the government level. Before that similar agreements with the Dubai International Financial Center were signed by the development company. Architects who worked on the Dubai center came to Minsk to take part in the development of the similar project in Belarus. The experience of the Emirati partners will also be used while arranging the work of the international financial center Minsk World. The concept of the center provides for attracting major international investors, which will help turn Belarus into the regional economic hub and become the continent's most competitive and investor-friendly country in the near future.

In addition to that, the Minsk World center means creation ofthousands of direct and indirect jobs for Belarusians.

The country's largest shopping and entertainment center is being built nearby. Its name has already been chosen - Mara Mall. The name in Belarusian perfectly reflects its concept.

The third important element of the complex is a new big urban park. It will be laid out along the central axis of the complex. Shady alleys, fountains and sculptural compositions, children's areas and sports grounds – the park will have everything for outdoor recreation.

Another important construction site, which is now well recognizable for its arc metal structures is Aerodromnaya metro station. Two stations of the new, third line of Minsk metro will be within an easy reach for residents of the complex!
