Time of Our Victories show described as Belarus president’s idea from start to finish

MINSK, 7 December (BelTA) – The organization of the massive show Time of Our Victories is an idea of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko from start to finish, BelTA learned from Natalya Eismont, Press Secretary of the Belarus President, before the beginning of the sport and entertainment show Time of Our Victories, which is taking place in Minsk Arena.

Natalya Eismont said: “We’ve already had similar experience in the past. We made a gala show featuring various sports. As a matter of principle, we’ve moved quite far from such a practice. No events like this have been held recently. The Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva is one of the people, who inspired the show in Belarus. She brought her show to us in March 2024. Judging by multiple reviews, spectators loved that show.”

The president’s press secretary noted that that experience had encouraged the idea of reviving the practice of organizing such shows. “Why don’t we collect all the best, all the most beautiful things from sport that we have? We see that we have a very large number of large-scale events taking place in the country. It is a gift to Belarusians, to our people. After all, people need to know how to rest, not only how to work. It was the president’s idea from start to finish. An idea of the president and his instruction, so to say. And a question directed to all of us: why can’t our athletes demonstrate what they are capable of to our country, to our people? To young people first and foremost,” she stressed.

The mass entertainment format was chosen for that. “We have people to show. We have things to show. And we have something to be proud of. In conclusion I’d like to say that it is the first project of the kind for our youth. And it is a gift from our president. We will see how everything pans out. And it has already been said that we hope, we believe that everything will work out, that the show will have a continuation,” Natalya Eismont added.

The president’s press secretary stressed that the head of state had kept an eye on preparations for the show. “While initially the show was supposed to focus more heavily on rhythmic gymnastics, one of the main adjustments the head of state has made was to make the show represent the maximum number of showy sports. We have many various impressive athletes. And today spectators will be able to see some unexpected kinds of sport that we haven’t announced and haven’t declared in advance. They were added after the president remarked that rhythmic gymnastics is beautiful and we have a lot of excellent athletes, who will go onto the stage today. But there are also other kinds of sport. Let’s think and work to a broader scope,” Natalya Eismont concluded.
