Three more stores with Belarusian products to open in Tbilisi by year-end

MINSK, 10 December (BelTA) – Three stores selling Belarusian goods will open in Tbilisi in the run-up to the New Year, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Georgia.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Georgia Mikhail Myatlikov attended a ceremony to open a new store with Belarusian products in Tbilisi on 9 December. The opening of the store selling Belarusian goods will help intensify the Belarusian-Georgian trade and economic cooperation and will bring Belarus closer and more familiar to the Georgian nation, the ambassador said as he addressed the participants of the event. The first Belarusian store in Georgia opened in 2016. At present, the store chain selling Belarusian products in Tbilisi includes 11 outlets. By the end of the year, their number will rise to 14.

Thanks to the store chain, Belarusian companies have been able been able to expand the range of goods and increase the export of food and consumer products with high added value to Georgia this year despite the pandemic. For example, supplies of meat and sausage products have surged by 29.7%, kefir and yogurt by 32.5%, beer by 8.7%, fish products by 5.9%, cheese and quark by 5.4%. Export of other food products skyrocketed by 76.5%.

Belarusian products are supplied to Georgia directly from manufacturers.

Plans are in place to continue expanding the store chain selling Belarusian goods and open retail outlets in other cities of Georgia.
