VITEBSK, 2 September (BelTA) – Training of teaching staff for the country's schools will reach a new level and will be supported by the state, Head of the Belarus President Administration Dmitry Krutoi told the media at the opening ceremony of kindergarten-primary school No.48 in Vitebsk on 2 September, BelTA has learned.
Speaking about teaching staff, Dmitry Krutoi stressed that this matter is under the president's control. "Recently at the Nationwide Conference on Teaching the president has expressed his opinion rather harshly on the training of teaching staff. It is time to stop the situation when people with the lowest passing scores enter pedagogical universities, and then parents complain about the low level of teachers’ training. Therefore, starting from this year we want to significantly raise the level of teachers’ training within the employer-sponsored programs and other tools. Certainly, this is connected with financial incentives, too. In fact, this year for the first time in history, teachers' wages will reach the average national level. We will keep increasing them. The competition between teachers and professors is already starting here, but the solution is very simple: universities have much more opportunities to attract extra-budgetary resources, such as foreign students, scientific activities that universities carry out together with enterprises. They have extra money that they can spend on the wages of their professors. As for schools, only the state can help them. We will continue following this policy," Dmitry Krutoi emphasized.
