MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) - The CSTO's collective forces are sufficient to respond to emerging crisis situations, CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov said at a press conference, BelTA learned.
“The main and primary task is to organize a response to possible challenges and threats, including sudden nuances that arise in the CSTO area of responsibility. I must say that over the period since the organization was founded we have put together a very extensive structure of military formations and control systems. For example, we set up the Collective Rapid Deployment Force in Central Asia in 2001, the Peacekeeping Force in 2007 and the Collective Rapid Reaction Force in 2009,” Imangali Tasmagambetov said.
The CSTO chief emphasized that all this time the organization has held various exercises in order to gain relevant experience in responding to crisis situations. “The collective forces are sufficient to adequately respond to and manage emerging crisis situations,” he assured.
