MINSK, 15 November (BelTA) – Poland should comply with agreements on border security, Polish former judge Tomasz Szmydt told the media on the sidelines of the international conference in Minsk to discuss regional cooperation in combating illegal migration, BelTA has learned.
"The issue is very topical and serious, because it concerns ordinary people. The Polish authorities are practicing what is called 'pushbacks' [forcing migrants to return to the territory of Belarus]. There have been a lot of murders. There is evidence of that," Tomasz Szmydt said. "Belarus is doing its utmost to prevent this, but the Polish authorities do not cooperate. The Polish authorities should comply with agreements on border security," he noted.
Tomasz Szmydt pointed out that a number of Polish politicians are interested in presenting Belarus as a threat. "But they do not care about murders," he emphasized.
