MINSK, 31 March (BelTA) – An opinion poll suggests that the absolute majority of Belarusians are satisfied with the outcomes of the presidential election, Head of the Department of Economic Sociology and Psychology of Entrepreneurship, Head of the Center for Social and Humanitarian Studies of Belarusian State Economic University (BSEU) Irina Lashuk told BelTA.
In February 2025, the BSEU Center for Social and Humanitarian Studies conducted a poll “Post-electoral social sentiments” by interviewing citizens at their place of residence (face-to-face survey). It involved 1,500 adult Belarusians from different regions of the country.
The survey suggests that the majority of the respondents positively assess the results of the presidential election held on 26 January 2025. To be more specific, 90.4% of the respondents are satisfied with the outcomes, 8.2% of those polled were undecided and 1.4% were not satisfied.
“We already know the election results, but sociologists need to find out what people think after the election took place. 90.4% of the respondents are satisfied with the results of the presidential election. This is a very high percentage, which very much reflects the election results. This suggest, first of all, that the election results were objective. Secondly, that Belarusians really demonstrate a shared position. They chose the one they wanted,” Irina Lashuk noted.
That said, 1.4% are not satisfied with the results. “This figure is very small. In sociology, this is considered a statistically insignificant value. It can be discarded altogether. 8.2% found it difficult to answer – it is also an insignificant figure. Thus, the overwhelming majority of Belarusians are satisfied with the results of the presidential election,” Irina Lashuk explained.
