Statistics: Young people account for almost 20% of workforce in Belarus

MINSK, 1 May (BelTA) – Young people account for almost 20% of total workforce in Belarus, BelTA learned from the National Statistical Committee.

In 2024, the total number in employment in the country was 4,122,000 million people - 50.5% of women and 49.5% of men. Some 95% of the employed in the country are hired workers. Almost 80% of the total number of employed Belarusians live in cities or urban-type settlements.

The average age of the employed amounted to 42.4 years last year. Young people aged 15 to 31 account for 19.9% of total workforce in Belarus. The employment rate for young people occupying managerial positions is 10.4%.

Most people are employed in the private sector - 57%. People working in the state-owned organizations reach 38.6%, and those employed by foreign companies make up 4.4%.

A total of 98.7% of employed Belarusians have one job, while 1.3% are looking for side jobs.
