MINSK, 1 December (BelTA) – The drone that was launched from Lithuania and fell on the ground in Belarus on 30 November boasted state-of-the-art technology, BelTA learned from the First News TV channel.

The fallen drone was found in Grodno on 30 November. The broken pieces allow recreating what the drone used to look like. The aircraft-type drone boasted a wingspan of 1.5 meters. It was 91cm long, 30cm high, and 8.5cm wide. Essentially it was a hard-to-spot compact reconnaissance vehicle.

A closer examination revealed that the drone boasted state-of-the-art technology: navigation equipment, a video camera, and two memory cards able to store 32GB of data.

The deciphered data demonstrated that the flight had lasted for 2 hours and 42 minutes. The drone was launched from outside the Lithuanian town of Kapciamiestis.

“In other words, the drone was supposed to fly over Grodno, fly into Poland, and head towards Germany. However, above the Polish city of Bydgoszcz the drone was supposed to turn around and fly back, towards Grodno, cross the Polish-Belarusian border once again, and from Grodno get back to Lithuania,” the First News TV channel noted.

Investigators are now sifting through the drone’s data.
