MINSK, 28 June (BelTA) – A stash with components for making explosive devices has been found at the border with Ukraine, BelTA learned from the spokesman of the State Border Committee of Belarus Anton Bychkovsky.
Anton Bychkovsky said that a Belarusian border patrol found a stash with components for making improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in the course of operating procedures in the responsibility strip of the Zhitomir branch of the Ukrainian border service.
“Containers with two kilograms of plastic-based explosive, fuse actuators, fuses, and detonators were found,” the official said.
Anton Bychkovsky remarked that the border service is working with the Defense Ministry to implement a set of measures meant to enhance the defense of the state border, step up control in the air space, and enforce border regulations in the territory along the border. Belarusian border service patrols at the Ukrainian border have been reinforced.
Actions meant to ensure border security are meant to prevent an aggravation of the situation at the border and prevent provocations. All the provocations will be stopped immediately by agencies in charge of ensuring national security.
