MINSK, 1 April (BelTA) – A press conference “Publishing projects of the Union State [of Belarus and Russia]. Realities and Prospects” timed to Day of Unity of the Peoples of Belarus and Russia was held in Minsk, BelTA has learned.
“The Union State Standing Committee has helped us make the most of our talent as publishers. Books that have been put out with its participation in recent years make up a complex and diverse library. They tell about the common historical development of Belarus and Russia, the Union State, social and political issues, and matters concerning national cultures,” Editor-in-chief of the Zvyazda publishing house Aleksandr Karlyukevich said.
According to him, the Zvyazda publishing house brought out a literary miscellany comprising works of participants of the Union State's contest of young authors “Bridges of Friendship”. The contest is aimed at finding, promoting, and supporting talented authors as well as attracting their attention to history, culture, and literary traditions of the two countries. “The miscellany includes works by Belarusian and Russian authors in two languages,” Aleksandr Karlyukevich noted. He pointed out that some authors receive recognition and get jobs at various periodicals after they are featured in the miscellany.
The Union State Standing Committee actively participated in compiling a book about the lives of Soviet people during the Great Patriotic War in the territory of Belarus. For example, it includes stories about poet and partisan Vsevolod Sablin and Aleksandr Tvardovsky who participated in military operations in Belarus.
Thanks to the support of the Standing Committee, a novella by Soviet poet and writer Mustai Karim saw the light of day in the Mastatskaya Litaratura publishing house. The book was published to celebrate the anniversary of the author. Apart from Mustai Karim's works, the book comprises recollections of writers who knew him.
When we carry out projects under the program of publishing activities of the Standing Committee, we also publish literature of people's of Russia, for example, works by compilations of contemporary poetry and prose and a series of books on poetry of people's of Russia, Aleksandr Karlyukevich added.
