St. Petersburg to host CIS Youth Inter-Parliamentary Assembly on 20-21 May

MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) – A meeting of the CIS Youth Inter-Parliamentary Assembly will be held at the Taurus Palace in St. Petersburg on 20-21 May, BelTA has learned from the CIS IPA.

The meeting will bring together young deputies of the national parliaments of CIS IPA states, representatives of the regional and local legislatures, leaders of youth parliaments, public organizations and associations.

Environmental awareness and environmental protection will be high on the agenda of the meeting. Members of the youth parliamentary delegations will share their experience in implementing the state youth policy in the field of environmental awareness and environmental education of young people in the CIS countries, will talk about youth legislative initiatives and public projects on environment and environmental protection. The participants of the meeting will also consider the main decisions of the CIS bodies in the field of international youth cooperation and plans of action to implement them, discuss preparations for the 30th anniversary of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly and review the proposals for 2022.

Young MPs will consider the results of the international video conference "Youth Against Glorification of Nazism" and will draw up plans for the use of the main findings and recommendations adopted at the conference. The MPs will also discuss the draft concept of recommendations "On measures to identify and support talented children and young people," will hear a report about the results of the St. Petersburg International Youth Labor Forum and discuss the prospects of participation in this event.

The participants of the meeting will also consider the nominations for the honorary badge "For services to international youth cooperation", an award recently established by the CIS IPA Council on the initiative of the CIS Youth IPA.

At the end of the meeting on 20 May, youth parliamentary delegations will visit the Saint Petersburg Stieglitz State Academy of Art and Design as part of a cultural and business program dedicated to the CIS Year of Architecture and Urban Development. An international science conference "Youth Participation in the Electoral Process: Experience of CIS IPA Member States" will be held on the second day of the meeting, on 21 May.
