MINSK, 3 June (BelTA) – Respect for culture, history and traditions is the core and foundation of Belarus-China friendship and the friendship of the leaders of the two countries, First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Nikolai Snopkov said at the meeting with Governor of China’s Liaoning Province Li Lecheng, BelTA has learned.
“I am glad to welcome you and the delegation of the Liaoning Provincial People's Government to the government headquarters of the Republic of Belarus. In fact, Comrade Li Lecheng is the only and first governor whom I have hosted in the headquarters of the Belarusian government. Thank you for this opportunity,” said Nikolai Snopkov.
The first deputy prime minister noted that the delegation of China’s Liaoning Province had a busy agenda in the previous two days of their visit to Belarus. “You have visited symbolic places of our country, you have had a glimpse at the inner world of our nation. The Brest Fortress is a symbol of perseverance and patriotism. Belovezhskaya Pushcha epitomizes the natural and spiritual heritage of Belarus. Kossovo Palace embodies a great thousand-year history of our land. The palace is a relatively modern building; it was erected in the 19th century,” he noted.
Nikolai Snopkov added, that Belarus is home to many castles and monasteries of the 12th and 13th centuries, they are part of a long and outstanding history of our nation. “We are not 5,000 years old, but we are not as young as we look. And I am pleased to invite you again to see even more ancient and delightful palaces, castles and monasteries of Belarus,” the first vice-premier emphasized.
On 3 June, the delegation of the Liaoning Provincial People's Government visited the Confucius Institute of Belarusian State University. “This is a symbol of respectful, deep, all-weather relationship between our countries, a symbol of a true ironclad brotherhood between Belarus and China,” the first deputy prime minister said.
Nikolai Snopkov stated that Belarus and President Aleksandr Lukashenko personally are actively involved in promoting the Community of Common Destiny idea of Chinese President Xi Jinping ; and they do it not in words, but in deeds. “We strongly believe that the foundation and basis of Belarus-China friendship and the friendship between our leaders is respect for culture, history and traditions, as well as the social ideology of our countries. Both Belarus and the People’s Republic of China share commitment to equality, a common future and joint development, which is seen as a core principle underpinning our society and our statehood,” the Belarusian official remarked.
Nikolai Snopkov went on saying that the long-term friendship of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping is an example of political trust and mutual support. “The leaders of our countries constantly direct us to intensify and expand inter-regional cooperation. We hope to build meaningful and comprehensive contacts with Liaoning Province. I am happy to discuss with you the priority areas of our possible cooperation,” Nikolai Snopkov assured.
