NIZHNY NOVGOROD, 27 June (BelTA) – Minsk and Moscow resolutely oppose any attempts to rehabilitate fascism and Nazi criminals, Belarus’ Deputy Prime Minister Anatoly Sivak said during the plenary session of the 12th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, BelTA has learned.
“Our meeting is taking place in the year when we mark the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. In the fight against the Nazis, Belarusians and Russians, along with other fraternal peoples of the Soviet Union, demonstrated unprecedented pride in their land and selfless devotion to the Fatherland. The Great Victory of 9 May 1945 is a triumph of fortitude, honor, fearlessness, the triumph of peace and good over evil and violence. And no other date can unite in such a way those who love and believe in Belarus and Russia,” said Anatoly Sivak.

Unfortunately, in the 21st century, Nazism has re-surged in a number of Western countries. “In their rhetoric the West clearly shows a desire to rewrite military chronicles, to misinterpret the events of those years for its own purposes. The primary goal of foreign falsifiers is to realize their geopolitical ambitions through the cynical distortion of historical facts. They are trying to erase and taint the feat of the Soviet people, and they are inciting Russophobia. This is why Minsk and Moscow are actively opposing any attempts to rehabilitate fascism and Nazi criminals,” Anatoly Sivak emphasized.
