Situation on Belarus-Poland border compared with genocide against refugees

MINSK, 12 November (BelTA) – What is happening on the Belarusian-Polish border is genocide against refugees, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko told the media on 12 November, BelTA has learned.

“The situation on the Belarusian-Polish border is a flagrant violation of human rights and nonfulfillment of international obligations by Poland, Lithuania and the EU countries in relation to refugees. Let us put it straight: this is a consequence of the ‘democracy' which the United States, EU countries and NATO brought to Iraq, Syria and Libya. Once those were beautiful countries where people lived well. What have they got thanks to this ‘democracy' today? Ruined economy, wars, crises, and deprived people. Today they are asking to be let into Germany. What they get in return is a cynical attitude on the part of the EU. This is genocide against these people,” said Vladimir Andreichenko.

According to the speaker, Poland is not trying to look into the problem. “They [refugees] do not want to stay in Belarus. They want to go to Germany. Yet, all we see is gun shots, beatings, and the use of tear gas. This is, of course, unacceptable. The saddest thing is that EU countries and international organizations such as the OSCE, PACE, the European Parliament do not take any notice of these issues. Just the other day Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the Russian State Duma, and I exchanged views and decided to raise this issue at the session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia which is due in Minsk soon,” he stressed.
