MINSK, 30 October (BelTA) - Unfriendly countries are openly waging cyber warfare against Belarus, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko said at a meeting in the House of Representatives to discuss the current state and areas of improving the legislation regulating the protection of information and cybersecurity on 30 October, BelTA has learned.
“Unfriendly countries openly declare about the cyber war being waged against Belarus,” Igor Sergeyenko said. “The growth of cyberattacks on Belarusian web resources, termination of support for software products of foreign manufacturers, spread of malicious programs and data leakage are direct threats to national security.”
“It is obvious that during the presidential election campaign cyber interference will only increase. As a consequence, the implementation of a set of measures to counter information attacks, as well as minimizing their number and consequences, is of particular importance,” the speaker stressed.
The event will discuss ensuring national security of Belarus in the information sector, state management and regulation in the areas of information protection and cybersecurity, prospects for the development of cybersecurity, new challenges and threats of the digital age, judicial practice in cases of crimes against computer security.
