MINSK, 17 September (BelTA) — There should be no formalism and red tape when dealing with citizens' petitions, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko said at a sitting of the second session of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus of the eighth convocation on 17 September, BelTA has learned.
"I want to say a few words about the work in the constituencies. I will outline three main aspects. Firstly, we expect systematic and attentive work with citizens' petitions. There should be no formalism and red tape. It is important to understand how people live, what they care and worry about, and, most importantly, to help them as much as possible. In this regard, we need to work closely with the executive branch," Igor Sergeyenko said.
Secondly, we need to hold information and awareness-raising events, the speaker noted. "People should receive objective information about the state policy and efforts to preserve sovereignty, and realize that the fate of Belarus depends on the civil position of everyone. Patriotism should be proved through concrete actions, united and energetic work. It is necessary to be proactive and to cover all groups of the population. Apart from dialogue platforms, meetings with workers, speeches in the media, members of parliament need to use more informal channels of communication, social media," Igor Sergeyenko emphasized.
"The current session is important. The House of Representatives will call the presidential election in Belarus. This most important social and political campaign will complete the constitutional reforms aimed at strengthening the foundation of people's power," Igor Sergeyenko added. "The election should be held in accordance with the national legislation, openly and orderly. Its results should become a powerful tool for the consolidation of the society. I believe that the MPs, together with their voters, will do their best to successfully fulfill the tasks that time sets before us".

"Thirdly, we need to analyze the situation in the regions and inform the country's leadership about existing problems and their possible solutions. It is important to show not only a public opinion, but also the best practices of local authorities in solving citizen's issues that determine the quality of life for Belarusians," he added.
