Sergeyenko elected First Deputy Chairman of Belarus-Russia Union State PA

MINSK, 17 June (BelTA) - Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko has been elected First Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia, BelTA has learned.

The decision was taken at the meeting of the 66th session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Minsk on 17 June.

Deputy Chairman of the Council of the Republic Sergei Khomenko and Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Vadim Ipatov were elected deputy chairpersons of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia.

The session will feature a ‘government hour’ on the formation and development of the common scientific and educational space in the Union State. The heads of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Education Ministry of Belarus and the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation will get MPs familiar with joint activities in science and education.

The agenda of the meeting includes consideration of the draft decree of the Supreme State Council of the Union State “On Amendments and Additions to the Decree of the Supreme State Council of the Union State “On the Union State Budget 2023” and approval of the report of the Council of Ministers of the Union State on the execution of the Union State budget 2023.

Given the delegation of a new deputies to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia by the National Assembly of Belarus, the session will consider organizational issues. The meeting will feature the election of deputy chairpersons of the Parliamentary Assembly, chairpersons of the commissions of the Parliamentary Assembly from the Republic of Belarus.
