Sergeyenko: Collective West has created prerequisites for worst ever world crisis

MOGILEV, 1 November (BelTA) - The West has created the preconditions for perhaps the worst economic crisis in history since the Second World War, Head of the Belarus President Administration Igor Sergeyenko said as he met with labor collectives of Mogilev Oblast to brief them on ongoing military and political developments in Belarus and abroad, BelTA has learned.

According to the head of the President Administration, not everyone in the world is happy about the successes of Belarus. Among ill-wishers are the countries of the collective West. "They made it clear that they do not need competitors in the international market, that they are against stability in our region, including in Belarus. Due to its geography, our country has always been at the junction of geopolitical interests of world powers. Belarus has repeatedly been drawn into various military-political disputes and conflicts. Today, the strengthened positions of Russia and China, the reluctance of the United States and other countries to put up with multipolarity, the attempts of the United States to maintain world domination naturally lead to a redivision of the existing system of world order and confrontation," he stressed. “On the one hand, the collective West led by the United States, on the other - Russia, China and allies. By its actions the West has created the prerequisites for perhaps the worst ever economic crisis in history since the Second World War. We are looking at the most unpredictable decade. Under these conditions, the collective West is not only trying to subjugate us to its interests, to impose chaos, but also to draw us into the war and deal with Russia and Belarus once and for all.”

“Belarus does not pose a threat to anyone. But if they decide to attack our country, we will defend ourselves,” he reiterated. "Belarus does not threaten anyone and does not want war. In the current circumstances, we stick to our peacekeeping position and tactics of military deterrence. The country's military-political leadership has taken all necessary measures to ensure national security and defense. We will defend ourselves in case they attack us. We are guarding our southern borders. Within the framework of collective security, a phased deployment of the regional task force of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, which is ready for armed defense of the Union State, is currently in progress," he said. "In order to live on our land and be a sovereign state, national security and defense of the Fatherland must be nationwide. The efforts of the military and the power bloc alone will not be enough,” he said.

According to Igor Sergeyenko, despite the current circumstances with sanctions pressure and the build-up of the military presence near the borders, Belarus will maintain its vector, including its social orientation. “Despite the existing difficulties in the work of certain industrial enterprises for various reasons, the social orientation of our state remains. Not a single government social program has been phased out. We are trying to show everyone the real picture of today and not the one that Western ideologues, Internet communities and bloggers talk about. Today everyone has to do their job. The Defense Ministry, the State Security Committee and other security agencies are working hard to fulfill their tasks. Civilians also have a serious responsibility to do their jobs. As the president says, we need to work in a calm and confident mode,” he stressed.

Today, the cohesion of Belarusian society comes to the fore. “We understand that any imbalance within the country is an unnecessary opportunity for destructive influence from the outside. Concentration and discipline at each workplace is of particular relevance today. We talk a lot about sanctions. They, however, also present favorable conditions for doing business. The main thing is the ability to take responsibility and be able to work in foreign markets. Representatives of Mogilevliftmash are present in this hall today. Almost every meeting of the head of state with the heads of Russian regions touch upon the acquisition of elevators. They are in high demand. This means that sanctions did not influence the work of the enterprise,” said Igor Sergeyenko.

The meeting in Mogilev was also attended by Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin, Chairman of the State Security Committee Ivan Tertel, Chairman of the State Border Committee Anatoly Lappo, and Economy Minister Aleksandr Chervyakov.
