MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) — The presidential election in Belarus will determine the future of the country for the coming years, Chairman of the House of Representatives Igor Sergeyenko said at a sitting of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus on 23 October, BelTA has learned.
"Next year we will have an extremely important and significant social and political event – the presidential election of the Republic of Belarus. The election will complete the cycle of election campaigns under the updated Constitution," Igor Sergeyenko said.
According to him, the results of the upcoming presidential election campaign are of key importance for every citizen, society and the state as a whole. "This is a milestone in the development of any country, a test of strength for the state's political system. It is the presidential election that determines the future of Belarus and the direction of its further development for the next few years," Igor Sergeyenko emphasized.
The presidential election in Belarus has been scheduled for 26 January 2025. The relevant decision was taken at the sitting of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus on 23 October.
