Sergeyenko: Belarus, Kazakhstan enjoy high level of mutual trust

MINSK, 17 February (BelTA) - Belarus and Kazakhstan enjoy a high level of mutual trust, Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko said during his meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Kazakhstan to Belarus Timur Zhaksylykov in Minsk on 17 February, BelTA learned.

The speaker congratulated the ambassador on the start of his diplomatic work in Belarus. He stressed that during this time the ambassador had an opportunity to familiarize himself with Belarus.

“Our countries enjoy a high level of mutual trust and cooperation in all areas, including intergovernmental and interparliamentary interaction. This partnership is based on the long-standing relations between the presidents of our countries. We were happy to learn that your president was one of the first to congratulate Aleksandr Grigorievich on his election as President of Belarus,” Igor Sergeyenko said. “We cooperate not only in trade, economy and politics, but also within the framework of international organizations, supporting each other on various matters and on topics that concern international security.”
“I would like to note that we have established good relations with the heads of the Kazakhstan parliament as well. I would like to reaffirm our commitment to maintaining an open dialogue and furthering our contacts,” the speaker added. “Yerlan Koshanov, Chairman of the Mäjilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, is set to visit Belarus this year. We are ready to hold a meeting at any time convenient for him. I believe you will take the most active part in its preparation."
Igor Sergeyenko added that friendship groups operate in the parliaments of Belarus and Kazakhstan. “This year the head of the friendship group came to Belarus to observe the presidential election. There were some working meetings. We also held some meetings via videoconference. The process is underway, and we are committed to maintaining the same constructive dialogue in the future,” he said.

The meeting focused on the development of Belarus-Kazakhstan interparliamentary cooperation.
