MINSK, 24 October (BelTA) – Interparliamentary contacts between Belarus and China are on an upward trajectory, Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko said during a meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Zhang Wenchuan in Minsk on 24 October, BelTA has learned.
“Interparliamentary cooperation is gaining momentum. This year, the High-Level Committee on Cooperation between the Legislative Bodies of China and Belarus started working. A delegation of the National Assembly of Belarus headed by Chairperson of the Council of the Republic Natalya Kochanova (the delegation also included Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Vadim Ipatov) paid a visit to the People's Republic of China,” Igor Sergeyenko noted.
“I hope that during your mandate in Belarus you will be able to arrange a visit to Belarus of Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress of China. We had a brief meeting on the sidelines of the BRICS Parliamentary Forum in St. Petersburg. Please convey my best regards to Mr. Zhao Leji,” the speaker added.
